Age of Sigmar, Battle of the Cave

For my second battle with the goblin horde, it came about during their journey home to the caves. Which to their surprise, a force of Seraphon stood watch. With little preamble, the grots spread out and on the word of several vying leaders – began to move on the unwanted interlopers.

Fizza joined the rock lobbas, using his magicks and the natural animosity between the two crews – crafting a volley of rocks that sailed toward the cave mouth and quickly crushed near a full warband of skinks. Inspired by this dramatic eruption of rock and earth, the gathered grots surged toward their attackers.

Little did they know a flock of death came upon them from behind, tossing a rather plump toad among Skagg’s motley group. By the time any noticed the new arrival, loud screeches preceded an attack of beak and claws. Through this flurry of winged ferocity, Skaggs and his boys found themselves volunteered for a desperate rearguard action as the mob moved on. Very few skulked away from this bloody fight, Skagg and his boys fighting on like cornered rats.

Choosing to close with the wave of green, rather then face another near miss volley from the rock lobbas –  the Skink shaman urged on his Seraphon to close with the goblins; pepper them with pipe darts – delaying them just enough for the mighty living war engine that was the Bastiladon, blasting the mob of grots with it’s arcane device. A mighty bellow and the Bastiladon barged down the slope, straight for the line of Trolls.

No sooner had the Bastiladon barged in among the grots and trolls, crushing several grots, and killing one troll; the rock lobba crews sent a volley arcing high into the sky..

Crushing flat the Bastiladon in a single round of rock flinging. Realising the small force left under his command could no block these mad goblins, the Skink shaman signaled the retreat; the seraphon forces phasing out, leaving the battered but triumphant grots access home.

Debrief:
Without a doubt, combining a shaman with competing Rock Lobba crews made for devastating firepower. If the razorbeaks went for them first, I seriously doubt Tobnam and Skaggs would have lead their forces through, despite numerical advantage.

Simon, my opponent had good fun zapping my grots – and we fully expected a big bust in the middle between skinks, grots and the Bastiladon – several large rocks put paid to that grand fight.

Another fun game for the boys in green and my thanks to Simon at Christchurch Wargaming Club for the game! 🙂
